The fault worth naming

Six apps that looked finished and did nothing

The six DAYBREAK response apps each shipped with an opening <script> and no closing tag. An HTML parser handles that by reading to the end of the file — so the last thing every one of those scripts contained was the literal text </body></html>.

That is a SyntaxError. When a script block throws at parse time, none of it runs. The pages render perfectly: the headings, the red-flag lists, the criteria, the export buttons, the meters. Nothing responds. No score is calculated, no file exports, no import reopens a saved copy, and on Money Trail no provenance token is ever minted — which means the tamper-evidence the page describes was not running at all.

It is invisible to every check that does not compile the script: the file is well-formed enough to serve, the markup is intact, the byte count is right, and a screenshot looks finished. Closing the tag is the whole repair, and check 3 on the checks page compiles every tool’s script in your own browser so this can never quietly come back.

The moving backgrounds

15 loops, each measured rather than eyeballed

Every background is a real seamless loop, not a clip that cuts. The join is a cosine crossfade — a linear dissolve of a clip onto itself puts a visible dip at the midpoint. Seam is how closely the last frame matches the first; drift is the same measurement against an unrelated frame from the middle, which is the control. A seam number means nothing without the number it has to beat, and a clip whose control is also high is not seamless — it is simply static, and it was replaced.

Footage licensed from Pexels. Candidates were screened on their written titles before a byte was downloaded — no identifiable person, no flag, badge or weapon, and nothing that could read as a child, since several of these tools respond to child exploitation. That screen cut 166 of 343 candidates, and it was not enough: the contact sheets caught four more clips with hands or a national flag in them that the titles never mentioned. Those were cut by eye.

Type

Newsreader, Inter, IBM Plex Mono, Public Sans, Zilla Slab and JetBrains Mono, all self-hosted from this origin in 41 woff2 subsets. A site whose subject is provenance does not ask a third party to draw its own words. The checks page re-verifies that from your browser.

Address

This build lives at keeptherecord.bornbetween2generals.com. It is not at lockchain.bornbetween2generals.com, which is a different and already-live application — the forty-nine accountability modules on the StrongRooms engine. The README in this package says so itself: the Money Trail trace here is a new use of that line, not a replacement for the modules site.
